Still little understood by lawyers, the noise at sea related to the development of maritime activities versus the protection of marine fauna has been, for several years, a subject of research in its own right in the field of science, particularly in Canada and the United States.

This symposium, the first of its kind in France, aims to promote interdisciplinary interactions on the basis of a constructive dialogue between researchers, economic actors, members of civil society and administrative authorities in order to find solutions to reconcile the development of maritime activities and the protection of marine fauna.

A state of research on noise at sea and the effects of maritime traffic on marine fauna will first be drawn up in an attempt to measure the efforts that must be made to reduce anthropogenic noise and limit the impacts on the marine environment.
Organized by teacher-researchers from the University of Toulon, members of the CDPC, CERC and LIS laboratories, with the support of the Préfecture maritime de la Méditerranée and the INPS and MEDD clusters, this event will be held in the amphitheater 300 of the Faculty of Law of Toulon (for speakers only) and by videoconference (for other participants due to health constraints related to Covid-19).
